Tuesday,  December 4, 2018    8:30am to 5:30pm

The main focus of PEARS is prevention and specifically the assessment, recognition, and stabilization of pediatric victims at risk of severe cardiopulmonary distress.  Course content covers pediatric assessment, recognition and management of respiratory distress and respiratory failure, recognitions and management of shock, respiratory and circulatory management, and the resuscitation team concept and American Heart Association pediatric Chain of Survival.

PEARS is a great class for School Nurses, Camp Nurses and EMT's!

PEARS is for healthcare providers such as emergency medical technicians (EMTs), medical and surgical nurses, school nurses and any other healthcare provider who infrequently sees critically ill infants and children.

AHA PEARS Provider Course is NOT intended for those staff credentialed for advanced pediatric skills that ROUTINELY provide critical pediatric care. (EMT-P, ED, PICU, or other critical pediatric advanced life support (PALS)).

It is a video-based, instructor-led, traditional classroom course. Students who successfully complete the course will receive an AHA PEARS Provider Course Completion Card (2 years).

Prerequisite: Class participants must have a current AHA HCP BLS (or ARC equivalent) card.

PEARS Book is included in the price.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and PEARS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose.  Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association, and any fees charged for such a course do not represent income to the Association.
